SINKING INTO THE MATTRESS WHILE MY FUTURE BANGS ON THE DOOR

I have been super into long titles lately. Here is a piece I wrote for last week’s workshop. College is on the mind, the future is on the mind, I am scared but life goes on whether I am sure of it or not. Anyway, read!

Hollow Chest

I actually didn’t end up reading the Animal Crossing poem for the spring show, I read this instead. Take a look if you’d like.

Ekphrastic Poetry

This is the poem I submitted for the Toledo Museum of Art Poetry Contest, which is a contest where you have to write a poem based on one of the selected pieces. If you win you get a year long membership and a cash prize, as well as your poem displayed next to the piece i think. Included is the tapestry I wrote my poem off of. :)

Spring Reading Pieces: Growth

A couple of pieces I wrote for my spring spoken word show next week. :) Ohio Caverns took a little over a month, the Animal Crossing piece I wrote in one night. The theme is growth, and I've been having a really hard time with it. I'm supposed to write one more piece for it but my mind had been so preoccupied by other things that my poems have constantly just been ending up being about what I've been thinking about and dealing with, which is a little bit of a difficult to thing to fit into the show. I'm sure I can mold it properly, the poem I wrote today was kind of about what I've been going through while also matching the theme. Dunno. We'll see. Enjoy.

King & Lennon

Um new OC alert. If you remember New Mexican Standoff, that poem was kind of about them. King on the left, Lennon on the right. Their first piece of prose together is in the works.

Apostrophe

An apostrophe I wrote for my English class during our reading of Frederick Douglass’s narrative.

Grandfather Poetry

 Two poems about my papa.

New Year’s Resolutions…

Hey guys what is up…
For the past couple days I’ve been contemplating what my New Year’s resolution should be. Now usually I am not the type of guy to have a New Year’s resolution, or the type of guy to even think about having one. They always felt useless to me, considering the fact that everyone is always going on about how they usually give theirs up a month or two in. However, this year I’ve decided it will be different   for whatever reason. I’ve compiled a list of things I’d like to do or accomplish this year and now I am going to present it to you. I think the overall theme is structure. I didn’t include things like “getting a job” or “getting my license” because while those are essential and are currently in the works, there is only so much I can do. Thinking about those things brings me so much dread and I want to focus on things that I enjoy.
